According to officials quoted by Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the worst-hit areas were in the Poonch and Mendhar sectors, where seven people lost their lives and 38 others sustained injuries due to intense artillery shelling early this morning.

Additionally, ten more civilians were wounded in the Nowpora and Kalgae areas of Salamabad in Uri, while three were injured in Rajouri district. All the injured have been shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Authorities said this marked the 13th consecutive day of Pakistani shelling along the LoC, making it the deadliest incident involving civilian casualties since the 2021 ceasefire agreement between the two nations.

Due to the continued cross-border shelling, residents of several border villages have been evacuated to safer locations as a precautionary measure.
