Veteran actor Achyut Potdar, best remembered for his role as a college professor in the iconic film 3 Idiots, passed away on Monday in Thane, Maharashtra, at the age of 91. He had been admitted to Jupiter Hospital due to health complications. While the exact cause of death has not been disclosed, reports indicate he was recently hospitalised with age-related issues.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday, August 19, in Thane. Star Pravah confirmed the news of his passing on social media, paying tribute to his warmth, simplicity, and sincerity in every role. Throughout his illustrious career, Achyut Potdar featured in over 125 Hindi and Marathi films and nearly 100 television shows. Director Hansal Mehta fondly remembered his impactful role as Jaggu Dada’s father in the film Angaar. Paying tribute, Mehta also recalled the privilege of working with him in his directorial debut Jayate, where Potdar portrayed a medical witness, admired for his sharp timing and subtle wit.
