3 CRPF personnel killed, over 15 injured in road accident in J&K’s Udhampur

A vehicle carrying CRPF personnel reportedly skidded off the road and fell into a nallah in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district. Several personnel sustained injuries and have been shifted to the hospital for treatment.

Three CRPF personnel lost their lives and 15 others were injured after a vehicle carrying them skidded off the road and plunged into a nallah in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district on Thursday, officials said.

The tragic incident occurred around 10:30 am in the Kadwa area while the personnel were returning in a bunker vehicle from an operation in Basant Garh. The vehicle, belonging to the 187th battalion of the CRPF, was carrying 23 personnel at the time of the mishap.

Two personnel died on the spot, while 16 others sustained injuries. All the injured were rushed to a nearby hospital, where one more succumbed, taking the death toll to three.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and directed officials to ensure the best possible medical care for the injured.
“We will never forget their exemplary service to the nation. My thoughts are with the bereaved families. Praying for the speedy recovery of the injured. Directed senior officials to ensure the best possible care & assistance,” the LG said on X.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh also expressed grief and said, “The vehicle was carrying several brave jawans of the CRPF.”
He added that he had spoken to Deputy Commissioner Saloni Rai, who is personally overseeing the situation.  (Agencies)
