A 25-year-old man lost his life after a vehicle tyre he was repairing exploded in the Devsar area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Wednesday, officials said.
An official told that the deceased, identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Najar, a resident of Bozgam village, sustained critical injuries when the tyre burst with a loud explosion while he was working at a local workshop.
He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors referred him to a higher medical facility in Srinagar due to the severity of his injuries. However, he succumbed on the way, the official added.
Local residents expressed shock over the tragic incident, calling Imtiyaz a hardworking youth who had been supporting his family through daily labour.
Police have taken cognisance of the incident and initiated proceedings under relevant sections. (Agencies)
