Pranjali Awasthi, a 16-year-old Indian girl, has made waves in the tech industry with her AI startup, Delv.AI.

At a Miami Tech Week event, she revealed that she founded her business in January 2022 and secured investments totaling approximately Rs 3.7 crore. The Delv.AI LinkedIn profile already features a team of up to 10 individuals.

Awasthi stated that Delv.AI’s primary objective is to aid academics in swiftly locating specific information amidst the vast internet resources. She received significant support from the accelerator program, leading to funding from On Deck and Village Global. Delv.AI secured $450,000 (approx Rs 3.7 crore) in financing and is presently valued at around $12 million (almost Rs 100 crore).

Awasthi oversees various facets of Delv.AI, including coding, operations, and customer care, while also leading a small yet efficient team.

Pranjali’s enthusiasm for technology ignited early, nurtured by her engineer father’s advocacy for computer science education. At the age of 11, her family’s move to Florida expanded her opportunities, exposing her to computer science classes and advanced math programs.

The foundation for her entrepreneurial venture was established at 13, during an internship at Florida International University’s research labs.

Amid Covid-19, Awasthi utilized her internship period to delve into machine learning projects and attend virtual high school. The launch of ChatGPT-3 beta by OpenAI sparked the idea of employing AI for faster extraction and summarization of research data. During this time, the concept of Delv.AI took shape.
